This is a set of wooden nesting dolls, also known as Russian dolls or Matryoshka dolls. The first ever set of Russian nesting dolls was carved by a craft artist in 1890. Nesting dolls can help children understand shapes/spaces and develop fine motor skills. 

The wooden dolls, designed to look like different dog breeds, each decrease in size and fit inside one another.
